RYBLT Helping youth around the clock

RYBLT stands for Rotary Youth Business Leadership Training, a program that I created in 2012.

“Youth Preparing to be Excellent Citizens” – is our motto.

Rotary Youth Business leadership Training program is an initiative of Rotary club Mississauga Airport. RYBLT is unique because it does not stop after a seminar or one training program. It keeps our youth engaged throughout the year, with follow up sessions on the topics discussed during our seminars. We do not select one or two students from each class. Our philosophy is to engage the entire class, thereby it automatically includes students of all calibers. A school is given a chance to participate in our program ONLY if they will allow the entire class- this is our pre-request. We recruit students from grade 7 and above. This gives us an opportunity to interact with the youth early, before they potentially become at-risk. RYBLT programs are specifically designed as per the needs of each school.

Why RYBLT?: The school system can only do so much; Our children need extracurricular activities. RYBLT listens to the students, designs programs based on their interests not the Board Curriculum.

RYBLT speakers are leaders from the communities, the presenters reflect the sentiments of the students. Youths can identify with the ethnicity of the presenters. Example: We don’t bring seven foot basketball players for a class full of five foot students.

The RYBLT program has reached out to over 7 thousand students. Over 900 students directly participated in the seminars, workshops, farmers Market, community events and earned volunteer hours.

RYBLT has supported schools in Mississauga, Brampton (Peel Region) and Toronto.

My recent most successful mega project was The Mississauga Multicultural Festival 2016, Called “Canada the Envy of the World”. The event did not use any public funding and recognized Social Services Agencies of Peel Region.

Attended by over 2500 guests, the uniqueness of the program is that I collaborated with Rotary International, CFSPD, SPCPEEL, PeelCAS, Heartland Community Health Services, The Colours of Ontario newspaper and many local businesses.

There were over 24 performers. The event lasted for over 5 hours and audience participation was one of the highlights. The best result came from live Evaluations was conducted by over 175 youth volunteers so that the results of this event can be measured. Needless to say the result was overwhelming success.
